Philosophy

We acknowledge the strength of parents as first teachers. We believe that it is important for us to have strong and supportive partnerships. These partnerships include family, children, teachers and community.

We believe in honouring our commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi through actively weaving this into our centre culture. We acknowledge and celebrate the cultural diversity in our preschool community. We acknowledge the diversity in cultures and backgrounds as an integral part of our rich setting.

We will support our children to know they have a special place here and will encourage them to explore their own learning journey.

Phoenix Preschool teachers believe children are empowered to learn in an environment, which offers inclusive and rich experiences. We believe in actively encouraging children to acquire knowledge, explore dispositions and skills which encourage life long learning, supported by their peers and teachers, as this creates a culture which values learning, the unique partnership of able supporting less able in the learning journey, and social relationships and competency.

At Phoenix Preschool, teachers believe in the value of building an environmental connection of respect and sustainability.

Learning is a journey unique to each child. We endeavour to build strong, trusting relationships to support children in their learning and development.
