We are closed for four weeks over the Christmas School Holiday break and for Public Holidays.

Fees - Fee Schedule as at 01 November 2010

Per Child $5.00 per hour.

Absent Full $5.00 per hour

Cancellation Fee $2.50 per hour

Full fee will be charged for absences on the first day and 50% per day thereafter, providing absences have been advised.

Holiday Retainment Fee $3.00 per hour

A holding fee of $3.00 per hour for the first three weeks of leave, each week thereafter will be charged at the full hourly rate of $5.00.

All accounts are sent out weekly and are one week in arrears. All accounts need to be paid during the week that they are received. Payment may be made by eftpos, cheque or cash. There is a fee drop box in the centre to streamline the paying of accounts. You may also pay by bill payment, telephone or internet banking. Please see the office staff for more details on these options.

If you are using preschool for 3 or more hours a week, you may be entitled for a WINZ childcare subsidy. Please see the office staff for a form.

There is a 10% reduction for children who attend more than 30 hours per week. This discount does not apply to hours claimed under Free ECE.

Caregivers dropping off early or late picking up their child will be charged $10.00 for each 1-15 minute period and every 1-15 minute period thereafter that the child is in attendance outside their booked time.

From 1st July 2007, up to 6 hours a day to a maximum of 20 hours a week, Free ECE is available to all 3 and 4 year old children. This is available upon completion and return by parents/caregivers of the Ministry of Education attestation form.

If you are late arriving to preschool the account will still reflect your intended starting time as staff will have been secured to ensure correct adult to child ratios were present. If it seems the time you have enrolled for is not working for you please see the Head Teacher or Centre Manager to change your bookings.

Cancellations -

If a child will not be attending preschool for their booked time, parents/caregivers need to advise preschool by 4pm on the preschool day PRIOR to the child’s booking. This will ensure that a cancellation fee of 50% of the normal hourly rate is charged. Failure to do this will result in full fees being charged. This applies to casual bookings also.

During the school holidays, parents/caregivers are required to advise preschool whether or not their child will or will not be attending. If the child is not attending and preschool has been advised then a retainer fee of 25% of the normal hourly rate will be charged. Failure to advise at all will result in full fees being charged. This does not include periods when preschool is officially closed.

Permanent cancellation of bookings need to be advised to the office two weeks prior to the last date the booking is required.

Daily Routine -

Parking:
Parking is available in the Menorlue carpark as well as 15 minute parking adjacent to the lawn outside Menorlue.  Please do not park up the roadway by the swimming pool – this needs to be kept clear for emergency access as all times.

Settling-in:
Preschool staff try to greet each child and parent on arrival and departure.  Children call the staff by their first names. On arrival please make sure that any important information about your child is recorded by a staff member.  This may include your child’s timetable, a change of contact phone number or any changes in your child’s health or behaviour.  Please give all medicine to a staff member who will record instructions in the medication notebook, and secure the medications in the First Aid cupboard.

Place your child’s named lunchbox on the trolley with drink bottle.  Any food placed in the fridge must be named.  Sunhats, jackets, gumboots etc may be placed on the clothing trolley by the sliding door.  Please name all clothing.

Please note that Phoenix Preschool is a peanut free zone.  This means no peanut butter, peanut biscuits or nuts in lunch boxes.

Please ensure that your child is dressed in appropriate clothes and sunscreen applied in the summer. It is advisable to bring a spare set of named clothes.  Nappies need to be folded and ready for use with nappy liner.  Disposable nappies are also able to be used.

You must enter the time your child arrives and sign your child in and out on the day’s attendance register in the spaces provided.  You must sign the column that gives permission to take your child for a walk if you are happy for them to go.

Together Time:
At 11.45am, 12.30pm and 2.45pm each day we have a set mat time when all the children are encouraged to join in Letterland Phonics programme, nursery rhymes, songs, finger plays, dances, poems, days of the week, stories, customs eg birthdays, Easter etc.

Meal Times:
Morning Tea - 10 am – children can choose their am tea time, this encourages social play to be extended and concentration times to be uninterrupted
Lunch Time - 12 noon – 12.30 pm
Afternoon Tea - 2.45 pm

Students:
Students will be in the preschool as part of the Ashburton College Child Developmentprogramme and childcare course.  These students complete an assignment based on observations of the children and take part in the preschool programme under staff supervision.
Teacher trainees also come from the Christchurch College of Education, Te Tari Puna Ora o Aotearoa and Open Polytechnic of New Zealand on practical assignment.

Complaints:
Should you have a complaint, please contact either Jo or Leah or a member of the Management Committee.  The names of the Management Committee are on the notice board beside the Office.
